DIY aloe vera & honey facial mask

Hi guys,

Thanks for following my blog or simply for popping by. Today I will write to you about one of my favourite homemade facial masks. It’s super simple and your skin will love you for it.

I like treating my skin with this mask when it lacks moisture, looks a little dull, I have a breakout or want to give my skin a bit of ‘umph’ or pick-me-up before an event. The two main ingredients are aloe vera and honey. Now, if you don’t already have an aloe vera plant at home I would highly suggest investing in one. It is one of my favourite natural beauty ingredients. Whenever I feel a pimple emerging or when one just pops up I always put some aloe vera on it and it instantly reduces the inflammation and redness. Hence it makes a great ingredient in this mask. It also has so many proven benefits including antibacterial and antioxidant properties. It also accelerates the healing of burns and when applied topically can increase collagen production, skin elasticity and reduce redness. No wonder the ancient Egyptians used to call it the plant of immortality and the native Americans called it the wand of heaven. On the other hand the honey, is a natural antibacterial, super moisturising and full of antioxidants which is great for anti-ageing. So now that we know a little about the benefits of the ingredients, here is how I actually make the mask…

– 2 Aloe Vera leaves

– 1 tsp of honey (organic is best)

(sometimes I also add 1 tsp of coconut oil and 1 tsp of olive oil for extra extra moisture and a drop of tea tree oil and lemon for added anti-acne benefits)

– Cut down the aloe Vera plant and scrape of as much of the jelly or juice from it as much as you can and place it in a bowl

– Add 1 tsp of honey

– Mix the ingredients as well as you can until it is well combined

– Apply to face and leave for as long as you want (I leave it on for 30-60mins depending on how much spare time I have)

I’ve got the mask on here – it might get a little drippy so keep some tissues handy. Also, please note my pimple below my lip and see the results for how it looks after the mask.

You’re face will be more hydrated, soft and radiant. I just love how it gives me a beautiful glow that is clearly seen in the images (literally zilch makeup). My pimple is also instantly less inflamed, red and hardly visible.

Let me know how you go if you try the mask and want more DIY posts by leaving a comment down below.

Lots of love, B
